Free Motion Quilting frees us to turn sharp corners or go round in circles without turning the quilt. This allow us to follow any design. The keys to free motion quilting are information and practice. This is your chance to learn and practice basics of free motion quilting.


In this class, you’ll:
–view examples of free motion quilting (trunk show)

–learn how to set up your machine

–learn helpful tools & supplies

–learn how to secure threads when you stop/start stitching

–practice embellishing a potholder or trivet

–after class Demo of ruler work by Rita

This class gets you started and prepares you for Free Motion 201 where you quilt a variety of basic free motion designs. For best results you should know your sewing machine and have experience using it. This will allow you to enjoy this more advanced machine skill.

What you Need to Bring:

    • Sewing machine  in good condition with cord, pedal, manual, extra bobbins, standard and free motion feet.
    • Scissors, seam ripper, fabric marker, etc.
    • Construction and decorative thread.
    • Optional: Any free motion supplies you already have—gloves, Teflon mat, extension table for machine, etc.  Chairs are low so you may want to bring a cushion.
