Sew a Simple Skirt! Skirts are one of the easiest garment to make without a store bought pattern. In this class, you’ll learn how to make a simple skirt by making your own pattern that you can use over and over again.

In this beginner class you’ll make a casual elastic waistband skirt by drafting your own unique paper pattern that can be used over and over again. You will also be shown several ways to make elastic waistbands and skirt alterations. Let’s not forget the kids! Make fun fast skirts for the little ones.

What You’ll Need to Bring:

  • sewing machine in good working order
  • 1¾ yards pre-washed cotton fabric. Stay away from rayon and slippery fabric for this first project. Quilting cotton works great.
  • matching thread
  • elastic (Choose from any of these: 1/2”-1” woven or no roll elastic, fold over elastic, decorative elastic that will show on the outside of the skirt)
  • basic sewing supplies, such as pins, fabric and paper scissors, seam gauge, stitch ripper, notebook, fabric marker/chalk, pen and pencil.
